Spike Lee uses his films to make statements about issues that believes that need to be addressed and they all have a reoccurring theme like race, inequality within the black community. Some other ones that are maybe not as prevalent is a black man “going against the odds” as in he lives in a rough neighborhood trying to live and “do the right thing”.
I believe that he is often trying to speak to society and maybe those who are guilty of doing these things. And to make a change in society and the cinema world. He could also be addressing the world of cinema as a whole, wanting to there be more representation of African American in films.
